Helenites Sports Club Celebrates Thrilling Success at 2nd Annual Spring into Action Tournament

The 2nd Annual Spring into Action Soccer Tournament, held from March 29 to 31, has officially wrapped up with resounding success. The event, featuring intense competition and spirited camaraderie, was a showcase of burgeoning talent with seven clubs from across the region participating. This year’s tournament saw teams from Lady Rover & Young Rovers, 340 Soccer Academy, Helenites Sports Club, Prankton Soccer Club, St. Croix Kestrels, and Massey Academy from St. Thomas, each bringing their best game to the fields of St. Joseph High School and Bethlehem Soccer Complex respectively.

Players ranging from ages 3 to 17 excited fans with their skills and determination, maintaining a fun and energetic atmosphere throughout the weekend. The finals were a highlight, as teams battled for the championship in their respective categories with remarkable fervour and all going into extra time.

Tournament Winners and Notable Performances

The Helenites Sports Club made a significant impact, with their teams clinching titles in the U6 Boys Category (Helenites 1) and U11 Boys Category. The U6 Girls Category was dominated by 340 1, showcasing their young talent. Other winners included Lady Rovers 1 in the U11 Girls Category, St. Croix Kestrels in the U16 Girls Category, and Massey Academy taking the top spot in the U16 Boys Category, demonstrating the depth and competitiveness of the region’s soccer scene.

Individual Accolades

The tournament also celebrated the brilliance of individual players with MVP awards going to exceptional talents such as Kaden from Helenites 1 and Leisl from 340 in the U6 categories, Liam of Helenites 1 and Amera of Lady Rovers 1 in the U11 category, demonstrating the future potential of the sport in the region. In the U16 categories, Jade of Prankton and Andres of Massey Academy captured MVP honors, highlighting their advanced skills and leadership on the field.

Golden Glove and Golden Boot Winners

Accolades for outstanding goalkeepers went to Walter from Massey and S'Nai from Lady Rovers 1 in the U11 category, in the U16 category, Walter from Massey also captured the title demonstrating his ability to handle challenges in the goal and first-time participation, St. Croix Kestrels Judah captured the U16 golden glove award, among others, underlining the defensive strength present in the tournament. The Golden Boot winners like Omar from Massey Academy and Khalani from Lady Rovers 1 illustrated the attacking prowess that thrilled spectators throughout the event. In addition, Kaden from Helenites 1 and Leisl from 340 as well as Acacia and Dimitri capturing the U16 golden boot award.
